Capacitive Air Gap Sensor
Capacitive Air Gap Sensors measure the distance between the rotor and stator in hydroelectric generators and electric motors to avoid reduced efficiency or damage caused by off-center or out-of round conditions.
Online monitoring of the air gap with Capacitive Gap Sensors (CGS) can provide important information about the generator condition by measuring the distance between the rotor and the stator winding. Monitoring allows air gap issues to be identified and corrected before an in service failure can occur.
CGS consists of CGP – probe that fits into air gap and CGL a linearization module that provides current (4-20mA) or voltage (2-10V) output proportional to distance. CGS family consists of 3 sensors covering the range from 3-50mm.
